Scope

TriPet is a web app that helps you plan travel with your pet. This page explains what information the app stores, why, who it is shared with, and how you can remove it. It covers the TriPet web app only, whether you are signed in or planning as a guest without an account.

Account information

  • Your email address, and your password stored in hashed form by the authentication system.
  • If you use “Continue with Google”, the account details Google returns: email, name and profile picture.
  • Account creation and sign-in timestamps, and whether your email has been confirmed.
  • A session is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in between visits.

Using TriPet without an account

  • No email address, name or password is stored when you plan as a guest.
  • A random key is created for your guest trip and kept in your browser's local storage. Anyone with that key or link can open that trip.
  • The trip itself is stored the same way as for an account — countries, travel date, pet type and name, method of travel, the generated report, checklist, your own rules, questions and answers, and any saved stays and dining places — but it is linked to that key rather than to a person.
  • A guest trip is deleted automatically 30 days after it is created, and only one guest trip is kept per browser: creating a new one deletes the previous one.
  • To guard against abuse, a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address is stored with the guest trip and used only to cap how many free reports can be generated per hour. The plain IP address is not stored.
  • If you later create an account and choose “Save to my account”, the trip moves to your account and the guest key and the hashed IP address are cleared.

Trip details you enter

  • Start country, transit or stop country (optional), and destination country.
  • Your travel date.
  • Pet type, and your pet's name if you choose to give it.
  • Method of travel (car, plane, train, ferry, bus or motorhome).

Content you add to a trip

  • Checklist items you tick off, and any actions you add yourself.
  • Your own rules: the country, the text you write, and the source link you paste.
  • Questions you ask about a country, together with the answers and sources returned.
  • Stays and dining places you save to a trip, including their name, address, rating and price estimates.

Generated content

Each trip has a report written for it, which is stored with the trip along with its status and the times it was created and last updated.

Share links

A random share token is created only when you choose to share a trip. While sharing is on, anyone with that link can read that trip in a read-only view. You can turn sharing off again at any time, which makes the old link stop working. Export links expire after 15 minutes.

Who we send information to

Information leaves the app only when you use the feature that needs it:

  • An AI service receives your trip details (countries, travel date, pet type, method of travel) and any question you type, in order to write the report or the answer.
  • Google Places and a web-search provider receive the city, country and hotel or restaurant names when you use the pet-friendly stays or dining search.

These providers are used to deliver the feature, not for advertising, and the same ones are used for guest trips planned without an account.

What we do not collect

  • No analytics or behavioural tracking of how you use the app.
  • No advertising cookies and no ad networks.
  • No payment or card details.
  • No location or GPS data.
  • No file, photo or document uploads.
  • No phone number and no postal address.

Your control and deletion

  • Delete a single trip from My trips. This removes its report, checklist, your rules, your questions and answers, and any saved stays and dining places.
  • Delete your whole account from the Account page in the app. This removes your sign-in, every trip and all the content above. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.
  • As a guest, planning a new trip replaces and deletes the previous guest trip, and every guest trip is deleted automatically 30 days after it is created.
  • Clearing your browser's site data removes the guest key, so the trip can no longer be opened from that browser. You can also email us the guest link or key and ask for the trip to be deleted straight away.
